هذا الكتاب تغطية لمساهمة الجبهة الديمقراطية لتحرير فلسطين في بلورة وإنضاج الفكر السياسي الفلسطيني خلال فترة بالغة الدقة من تاريخ النضال الوطني تزاحمت فيها مشاريع الكيان الفلسطيني في سياق سعي بعض الأوضاع العربية لتأهيل نفسها طرفاً مشاركاً في التسويات الثنائية. وهو إضاءة موثقة على سياسة الجبهة الديمقراطية خلال تلك الفترة من مسار الحركة الفلسطينية, على امتداد عامي 1973-1974 تحديداً, التي شهدت ولادة البرنامج الوطني المرحلي بركائز الثلاث: دولة, عودة, تقرير مصير. وهو البرنامج الذي ما زال يحتفظ براهنيته, لا بل سخونته المباشرة كونه ناظماً لنضال الشعب الفلسطيني وموجهاً له على امتداد مرحلة متكاملة من تاريخه المعاصر. مرحلة لن تنقضي إلا بإقامة دولة مستقلة عاصمتها القدس بعد جلاء الاحتلال والاستيطان الى حدود 4 حزيران يونيو 1967 وبعودة اللاجئين الى ديارهم.
