هذا الكتاب: شرح العقيدة المسمّاة بـ "المقدمات" لأبي عبد الله محمد بن يوسف السّنوسي الحسني، جمع فيها الشارح العلامة ابي إسحق السرقسطي ما يحصل به حلُّ ألفاظ العقيدة، والمراد هنا: طائفة من العلم تقدَّم للمبتدىء في علوم الدين، وعدد مقدماتها ثمانية: الأولى: مقدمة الأحكام "الحكم: إثبات أمرٍ أو أو نفيه" ، والثانية: مقدمة المذاهب "مذهب الجبرية ، مذهب القدرية، مذهب أهل السّنة، والثالثة: مقدمة أنواع الشرك "شرك الإستقلال، شرك التبعيض ..." وحكم أنواع الشرك، والرابعة: مقدمة أصول الكفر والبدع "التمسك في العقائد بالظواهر، الجهل بالقواعد العقلية ... وغيرها". والخامسة: مقدمة الموجودات: أقسام الموجودات "الغني عن المحل والمخصص، المفتقر إلى المخصص دون المخل ..."، والسادسة: مقدمة الممكنات المتقابلات والصفات، والسابعة: مقدمات الصفات الأزلية، والثامنة: مقدمة الأمانة في حق الرسل عليهم الصلاة والسلام.
وفي الكتاب يقدم المؤلف شرحاً لكل مصطلح من المصطلحات الآنفة الذكر من الناحية اللغوية والشرعية، ثم يفسرها على هيئة سؤال وجواب مع إيراد الأمثلة والروايات الواردة عن علماء عصره في شرح كل حكم من تلك الأحكام ويورد مقتبسات من القرآن الكريم والأحاديث الشريفة ويفسرها لغة واصطلاحاً بما يتناسب وكل مقدمة.
