"عبد الصالح باك" كاتب إيراني، أصدر مجموعته هذه من القصص بهدف تحريك خيال الأطفال وإثارة الدهشة والتساؤلات لديهم من خلال الصراعات التي يعيشها أبطال القصص من بشر وحيوانات وبعض مظاهر الطبيعة، لتحقق أهدافاً نبيلة من خلال التأكيد على انتصار قوى الخير والمحبة.
ومن القصص التي تثير دهشة الأولاد قصة "الحطاب والثعبان الأبيض" وفيها: ""في يوم من الأيام، كان هناك حطاب عجوز يعيش مع بناته الثلاث. كان العجوز يذهب كلّ يوم إلى الغابة، يجمع الحطب ويعيش بثمنه. وذات يوم، ذهب الحطاب إلى الغابة لجمع الحطب، وبينما هو يعمل تناهى إلى سمعه فجأة صوتٌ غريب. تأهّب الرجل العجوز وتوجّه إلى مصدر الصوت، ويا للعجب! فقد رأى ثعباناً أسود يُلحق الأذى بثعبان أبيض. كان الثعبان الأسود يخنق الثعبان الأبيض. رقّ قلب العجوز للثعبان الأبيض، فالتقط حطبة وهوى بها على الثعبان الأسود، ولكن الحطبة انحرفت وأصابت خطأ الثعبان الأبيض. وعندما أبصر كل منهما العجوز، لاذا بالفرار. انتهى العجوز من جمع الحطب، رتّبه وهمّ بحمله، لكن الحطب كان ثقيلاً جداً. نحّى الحطاب جانباً بعض الحطبات، وحاول مجدداً أن يحمل البقية، ولكن الحطب بقي ثقيلاً. تعجب كثيراً من هذه الحال، ومرة ثانية قلّل كمية الحطب، ولكن مع ذلك، لم يتمكن من رفع الحمولة. خمّن العجوز أخيراً، وقد نال منه التعب، أن ثمة شيئاً مختفياً بالتأكيد بين ثنايا الأخشاب، وقد خاف كثيراً لهذا الخاطر، وأصابته الرعشة والرجفة، فخاطب كتلة الأخشاب: أشيطان أنت أم جنّي؟ فأجابه صوت من بين الحطب: لست شيطاناً، ولا أنا جنّي! كان العجوز قاب قوسين أو أدنى من الهرب، ولكن عزّ عليه أن يتخلى عن رزقه، فحاول مغالبة خوفه قائلاً: إذا لم تكن شيطاناً، ولست جنياً، فما أنت إذن؟ من أنت؟...".
