ينقسم هذا الكتاب إلى ثلاثة أجزاء: الجزء الأول يناقش كيفية نمو الطفل بعد عامه الثاني وما يطرأ عليه من تغيير. وينتهي بمناقشة وسيلة سهلة وآمنة لعقاب الطفل بهدف تعليمه السلوك السليم عن طريق تطبيق نظام الوقت المستقطع من أي نشاط يقوم فيه حيث يؤمر بلزوم السكون لمدة دقيقة في أحد جوانب الغرفة أو على كرسي ليشعر بعدم الرضا عن خطأ ما قام به ثم يسمح له بممارسة نشاطه.. والجزء الثاني يناقش المزاجية للطفل بعد عامه الثاني كمستوى نشاطه والانتظام في برنامجه اليومي وتكيفه مع ما يجد وإلى أي مدى يكون رد فعله حاداً ومدى حساسيته للناس والأطفال الآخرين.. والجزء الثالث يناقش السلوك النموذجي والسلوك الخاطئ لهؤلاء الأطفال في مطلع عامهم الثالث مثل مدى الانسجام مع الوالدين ومع الأطفال الآخرين وكيف يفكر الأطفال في هذه السن ليجذبوا انتباه الوالدين لهم؟ وكيفية التواصل مع هؤلاء الأطفال وما هي حالات التقلب المزاجي التي تعتريهم؟ وكيف نعودهم على الابتعاد عنا لبعض الوقت وينتقل النقاش لبعض المشكلات التي تواجه الطفل عند النوم ويناقش الباب أيضاً حالة الغضب والعدوانية لدى الطفل أسبابه ومداه وعلاجه.. وتفرد المؤلفة فصلاً كاملاً لمناقشة كيفية اختيار دار حضانة للطفل والصفات المثلى لهذه الدار وفطام الطفل وما يصاحبه من مشكلات عدة.. وتختتم لنا الكتاب بتوجيه نظر الوالدين للأشياء المحببة للطفل كالدمى واللعب التي على شكل حيوانات وكيف يحب أن تلازمه في فراشه وفي حقيبته عند الذهاب لدار الحضانة وعند ركوب السيارة.. وفي الخاتمة قدمت لنا المؤلفة مجموعة شيقة ومفيدة ودسمة من الأسئلة التي تواجه الآباء والأمهات في التعامل مع طفلهم بعد سن العامين والإجابات العلمية والعملية لهذه الأسئلة مما يخفف هموم الأسر ويساعد الطفل على العيش في سلام عاطفي وعائلي واجتماعي.
