"الإرشاد الرسولي" هو ثيقة وجهها البابا يوحنا بولس الثاني في 10/5/1997، وضمتها مبادئ للتفكير وتوجيهات للتجدد، واقتراحات عملية، تشكل جميعها رجاءً جديداً للبنان. هو دعوة إلى إحياء لبنان، عن طريق الحوار المتسم بالاحترام والمشاركة الأخوية، بين جميع الذين يقيمون في لبنان من مسيحيين ومسلمين ودورز، والذين يشكل حضورهم ثروة وفرادة وعقبة في آن واحد. هو دعوة إلى إعادة بناء لبنان، مع الالتزام بالجذور الدينية للهوية اللبنانية الوطنية والسياسية.
وهذا ما شدد عليه الإرشاد الرسولي "رجاء جديد للبنان"، فأشار إلى بعض مبادئ، لا بد من الاهتداء بها، للسير على طريق بناء الأوطان.
ويضم الكتاب أوراق لحلقة الدراسة التي جاءت لتطبيق الإرشاد الرسولي "رجاء جديد للبنان" للبابا يوحنا بولس الثاني، وقد نظمت بالتعاون مع جامعة سيدة اللويزة. وتحدث فيها الكارونيال مار نصر الله بطرس صفير عن مبادئ الإرشاد وتوجيهاته في ما يعود للشأن الوطني في قضايا الناس، وتناول سائر المشاركين الحديث عن كل ما يعود لتطبيق هذا الإرشاد.
