يدور موضوع الكتاب حول أهمية تطوير الخطاب الإعلامي الرسالي للحفاظ على تماسك وهوية المجتمع العربي المسلم في مواجهة الإعلام المستورد في هذه الحقبة من الزمن.
وفي هذا السياق تناول الكاتب "صباح محسن كاظم" بدراسته الأريكولوجية هذه النصوص الثلاث المقدسة (التوراتي والانجيلي والقرآني) فكرة الظهور للإمام المهدي عليه السلام مع دور الإعلام ووظيفته في عصر العولمة والانتشار الكبير للمرئيات والمطبوعات؛ وحوار الحضارات والأديان، والاستشراق.
وفي طريقه إلى شرح مقاربته يتبنى مشروع الجغرافي ماهيات الفكر الديني المعاصر في الثقافة الإسلامية وهو مشروع واضح الملامح يتخذ نقاط انطلاق يضعها الكاتب عبر عنوانين: "يرتفع الأول منهما ليؤطر الرؤية الإسلامية العامة لدور الإعلام المتبني لمعمة تخفيف الصدمات التي تحيق بالعالم الإسلامي في صميم ثوابته وخطوطه العامة نتيجة لما اصطلح على إجماله بالعولمة، في حين انصب العنوان الثاني، الأصفر قليلاً على جانب عقائدي صرفٍ، ذلك هو الأمل المعقود على ظهور المصلح العالمي الكبير –الإمام المهدي- (...) تلك هي فكرة الانتظار الإيجابي لمن سيملأ الأرض عدلاً بعد ان اتخمت جوراً وضياعاً...".
وعليه، تكون القراءة في هذا الكتاب كما أراد لها الكاتب: "تحول الفكرة فكرة الإمام المهدي من مجرد فكرةٍ مؤجلة محاطة بالغيب، إلى ممارسة عملية إعلامية. والإعلام هنا يرتقي على معناه التقليدي المهني، إلى معناه العام الذي يهيىء الفرصة لكلَ منتظر "للإعراب عن انتظاره بطريقة إيجابية، وتحدده بسلوك واضح بدل العشوائية السلوكية أو الفكرية...".
"الإعلام والأمل الموعود" يسلك طريق الإنتظار الإيجابي في العمل والعلم والفكر والتواصل البناء بين أفراد المجتمع في سبيل تحقيق العدل بمعناه الإنساني...
