في عمله المعنون (وما أدراك ما علي) يأخذنا الدكتور صلاح مهدي الفرطوسي في رحلة إيمانية، فيها الكثير من المفاهيم الانسانية والقيم الروحية، والمتعة العلمية وهو يتناول سيرة أمير المؤمنين ومنهجه عليه السلام.
جاء الكتاب في ثلاثة مجلدات توزعت على ثلاثة أقسام: القسم الأول (بيت النبوة ومدرستها)، القسم الثاني (بعد رحيل الوحي وصاحبه)، القسم الثالث (الزهراء في بيت علي).
في القسم الأول: تناول المؤلف سيرة أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام في عصر النبوة ودوره في نصرة الرسول المصطفى صلى الله عليه وسلم، ومدى إيمانه بدعوته، واثر بيت النبوَة عليه.
أما القسم الثاني فتناول فيه سيرته عليه السلام من حين انقطاع الوحي عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ورحيله، إلى حين التحاقه برسول الله وسلامه عليهما.
ويأتي القسم الثالث للحديث عن مكانة الزهراء عليها السلام التي انفردت بها دون أبنائه عليه السلام لتكون وعاءً لنسله الشريف.
من هذه المفاهيم الإنسانية السامية وبتجرد وموضوعية سطر الدكتور الفرطوسي هذا السفر الجليل في نهج محمد وآله محمد صلوات الله عليهم أجمعين.
