مسرحية (المغول) هذه، محاولة للوقوف عند واحدة من (اللحظات) المؤثرة في تاريخنا، تحمل شحنتها الدرامية، وتمنح الكاتب المسرحي فرصة طيبة للعمل، إنها (إختيار) خارج نطاق المساحات التاريخية المبكرة؛ التي صنع منها الكثير من الأعمال الفنية إلى حد التكرار، وهي فضلاً عن هذا وذاك، تتضمن العديد من القيم الفنية والإنسانية التي تحقق تواصلها مع قرننا هذا؛ حيث يتحتم علينا جميعاً أن (نصمد)، أن تقاوم الحصار المضروب، وألا نستسلم بسهولة لجيوش المغول الجديدة القادمة من المشارق والمغارب، يتساءل المرء وهو ينفض يديه من المسرحية: لماذا؟ لقد انكسرت الموصل. وهُزم قائدها (الصالح)... لقد انطوى البطل وهو يجابه تحدياً أكبر منه بكثير... فأين المغزى؟.
والمغزى يكمن ها هنا بالذات... ففي تاريخ البشرية، وفي تاريخنا نحن بالذات، لحظات من التوهج، قد تمتد إضاءتها وقد تقصر، وهي على كل الأحوال ستنتهي - كفعل تاريخي - إلى الإنطفاء، ليس ثمة دوام في حركة التاريخ إنها (المداولة) التي تحدث عنها كتاب الله...
ولكن شرف الإنسان المسلم يظل، مع إستكمال الأسباب وليس قبلها بحال، فوق إحتمالات الربح والخسارة، إن مداه أوسع بكثير وأبعد بكثير، لأنه مستمد من كلمة الله الباقية!.
لقد انطوت صفحة الرعب المغولي، وخرج الإسلام نفسه منتصراً بعد إذ طوت إرادته المغول... ولم يكن بمقدور الضمانات الجزئية، والتقريط بالشرف أن تصنع الإنتصار... لقد صنعه - والحق يقال - كل الذين ضحوا من أجل ألاّ ينحني هذا الدين لأي وثنية في العالم!.
