أمام فيض المصطلحات الذي يغمر حقل الرياضيات والذي يشمل مصطلحات الرياضيات الحديثة ومصطلحات الحاسبات الآلكترونية تبدو الحاجة ملحة إلى معاجم علمية رياضية متخصصة تعطي المصطلح العلمي الرياضي الأجنبي ومقابله العربي ثم تحدد دلالته ومعناه وبدقة وإيجاز.
من هذا المنطلق، وتحت إلحاح هذه الحاجة يأتي هذا القاموس العلمي الرياضي المتخصص ثنائي اللغة إنكليزي/عربي الذي يتيح للدارس والطالب والبحث معرفة المقابل العربي للمصطلحات الرياضية الأجنبية. إن كان في ميدان العلوم الرياضية أو في مجال الحاسبات الإلكترونية ومتعلقاتهما. وقد تم في هذا القاموس حشد مصطلحات رياضية تستعمل في المدارس الأردنية حتى نهاية المرحلة الثانوية، منتقاة من معاجم إنكليزية وفرنسية، بالإضافة إلى مصطلحات إرتأى القيمون على هذا القاموس والذي هم بالدرجة الأولى إختصاصيون في علم الرياضيات، شمول هذا القاموس على مصطلحات رياضية قدروا أنها ستستعمل في السنوات القريبة القادمة، بالإضافة إلى مصطلحات تمّ إنتقاء الأنسب منها للدلالة على مفاهيم المصطلحات الأجنبية وذلك من الكتب المدرسية التي تستعمل في العالم العربي، وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنه تم إغناء هذا القاموس بسرد خاص بالألفاظ الواردة فيه، والتي جاءت مرتبة ترتيباً ألفبائياً وفقاً لحروفها الأولى والهدف أن يسهل على الباحث إيجاد المرادف الإنكليزي للفظة العربية التي يطلبها.
