يسلط هذا الكتاب الأضواء على حياة "حبيب بن مظاهر الأسدي" أحد أصحاب الإمام الحسين عليه السلام والذي سجل مواقف بطولية، وتضحيات جسيمة أراد للسيد "علي القصير" استحضارها عبر صفحات كتابه لما تمثله هذه الشخصية من مبادئ ونبل أخلاق تجلت في واقعة ألطف التاريخية ورسمت ملامحها الخاصة بها. فمن هو "حبيب بن مظاهر الأسدي". يقول الكاتب: "ولد حبيب بن مظاهر في بادية نجد ونشأ في الكوفة من العراق، صحب النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ونسمع حديثه، ثم لازم أمير المؤمنين علي بن أبي طالب مع نخبة من أكفائه، ينهل من أدبه، وعلومه، سالكاً منهجه، ومرابطاً له في حروبه، عاكفاً على ولائه، ثم صحب الإمامين الحسن والحسين (عليهما السلام)، وحينما وصل مسلم بن عقيل إلى الكوفة لازمه حبيب مع كبار قادة ورجالات الكوفة، وخرج بعد شهادو مسلم إلى كربلاء مقدماً نفسه قرباناً لله مع الإمام الحسين عليه السلام ليكتب اسمه في ديوان الشهداء والسعداء".
