لم يكن القصد من إعداد هذه الرسالة تدوين لوائح بأسماء المتعاملين بالقروض. كما ليس في مهمتها الخوض في أحكام القرض وشروطه وما يتعلق بهما، فتلك من مهمة طالب الفقه. ولذلك فالبحث يهدف إلى الكشف عن واقع التحول التاريخي لوظيفة اقتصادية مهمة، هي جزء صميم من المنهج الاقتصادي الإسلامي. ذلك التحول الذي سنلمسه بوضوح من خلال عقد المقارنة لصور من قروض القرون المتتالية خلال حكم الدولة العربية الإسلامية.
ثم سنعرض معالجات الفقهاء بقدر تعلق الأمر بالحالة، أو الصورة التي نتحدث عنها، وهذا أمر لا بد منه.
ولذلك فإن البحث يهدف إلى إعداد معلومات تاريخية للعلماء والباحثين في مجال الفقه، فضلاً عن هدفه الرئيسي في خدمة التاريخ والتراث الإسلامي.
