انشغل المدخل بقضية أولى أساسية، وهي القراءة والمرجعية، قضية: "الحداثة مقاربة المفهوم والتجليات"، وتغطي الفصل الأول وهو قد تم الخوض فيها من خلال العناوين الأساسية الآتية: الحداثة رؤية فكرية معرفية للإنسان والوجود، ثم التأسيس للحداثة في المشروع من خلال نموذج معرفي كانت عبر مراحل قفزات تاريخية.
الفصل الثاني: غطته قضيتان: التمرد ومقاربة الخطيئة، وقد سلك فيها الباحث طبيعة المعالجة نهج "القفزات"، إن جاز التعبير، أي استحضر كل ما يمت لها بصلة، غير الأزمنة والأمكنة والأشكال الثقافية، فكرياً، وشعرياً، وصوفياً، محلياً، وعالمياً -لأنها قضية شائكة- في إشارات تتسم بالإيجاز والتركيز.
الفصل الثالث ضمنه أيضاً قضيتين اثنتين أولاهما: الرمز والأسطورة في المشروع، واستعرض فيه -بشكل يتوخى الإيجاز- لدوافع استعمال الرمز والأسطورة عند بعض الشعراء العرب المعاصرين، ثم العلل الكامنة خلف معانقة أدونيس للأسطوري.
في الفصل الرابع، أتى على معالجة قضية شائكة ومعقدة، حسب أنها صنو مسألة "إعلان موت الله"، أي أن الذي أسس لتلك السابقة سيؤسس لشبيتها: الضرب في متاه الغموض. وقد توخى فيها -كالعادة في المباحث السابقة- تحديد الكلي، وهو أن غياب "نقطة" محورية متجاوزة للأرض والإنسان.
نصل إلى الخاتمة، وفيها سطر نهايات المطاف تلميحاً وإيجازاً، ومنها أن الهم كان معرفيا، وهو يستند إلى مرجعية أوضح معالمها في المدخل، وفي ثنايا القضية المطروقة. ولذلك ما فتئت يروم الإمساك بخيوط التشابك الناسجة لرؤى مثقفينا المعرفية، و أدونيس لأبرز واحد من تعينات أزمة الوجود العربي الذي تعينت فيه أزمات الوجود الإنساني جميعاً، نعني أزمات أنواع القيم الخمس، استناداً إلى أبي يعرب المرزوقي.
