في باكورة أعمالها، غاصت الدكتورة لمى العوض في الأعماق الاجتماعية والقومية والدينية، ولا سيما في مشاكلها المتعلقة بالتمييز والتعصب القومي والديني والطائفي وما تسببه من الأم روحية وكيانية في شخوص من وقعوا في هذا المعمعان والجيل الشاب منهم بشكل خاص كانت لمى كالفراشة تحوم في سموات أبطال وبطلات قصصها، هابطة بعد طيران مضن على صخور البحار تنفش صور حيواتهم عليها، التي كانت تصطدم دائماً بأصداف تحمل على ظهورها بحاراً أخرى وبين هذا وذاك، تطرقت لمى وبعمق إلى شتى أشكال الاغترابات التي يعيشها أبناء جيلها فمن الاغتراب القومي إلى الاغتراب الطائفي، وصولاً إلى الاغتراب الثقافي، فالناس كما تقول "كما هو لم تعد القراءة من أولوياتهم، فهم يكرهون عري الحقيقة ويفصلون بهارج الكذب".
جهد جريء وعمل لاذع، أتمنى أن يكلل باهتمام القارئ الأصيل الذي يبحث عن الحقيقة وعن مشاكل مجتمعه ليستأصلها من جذورها.
