تلج هذه الدراسة حقلاً محرماً على العقل، ملغوماً بالنصوص المقدسة، محتشداً بوعيد المتون والحواشي، ومسوراً بإشارات الويل والثبور وعظائم الأمور. لكنها تتقدم بهدوء رغم ذلك ووسط أحابيل التاريخ وسراديبه العديدة تنقب حقل جذور الأديان التوحيدية وإنزالها من سمائها اللاهوتي إلى أرض التاريخ البشري.
إن النظرة إلى جذور الأديان التوحيدية نظرة فصامية تطغى عنها النقد العلمي الجاد. ولا مسوغ والحالة هذه إلا بإدخالها إطار التاريخ وتحليلها من داخله والتحريض على فهم جديد لها بتقديم زاوية غير مألوفة تماماً محورها استكناه الرموز الوثنية التي شكلت المادة الخام الأساسية للتركيب العقائدي للأديان التوحيدية ودلالاتها الثابتة أبدا عبر فضاء التاريخ.
تستخدم الدراسة أيضاً مناهج علم اللغة تنقيباً عن جذور الأسماء التي لها موقع أسبقية وتركيز في القاموس الديني ومصادرها المشتقة منها ودلالاتها اللغوية (الله، شيطان، جنة، جهنم،.. الخ) فاللغة كرمز مهموس مشابهة للرمز الصامت في حمل السر الديني، عند تفكيك مفاصل أسمائها الدينية الحاوية لطبقات تتراكم فوق طبقات من الإضافات والتي جعلت من تلك الأسماء طلاسم مغلقة، تكشف لنا السر، سر البداية الأصل الأول الذي لا أول له للاسم.
