في رحلة مثيرة، وإلى تاريخ ومنجزات بعض العلماء، ينقلنا هذا الكتاب الذي أعد خصيصاً ليكون كالدليل لكل باحث طامع في معرفة تاريخ بعض العلماء المسلمين الذين استطاعوا بما متلكوا من أصالة حضارية وبعد اطلاعهم على تراث الأمم المجاورة لهم، أن يرتقوا بالثقافة والعلم درجة عالية من التطور والمشول. فابن بطوطة مثلاً كان من أشهر الرحالة العرب، وهدفه كان نقل صورة واضحة عن أشهر الحضارات الغربية والقديمة، أما عبد الرحمن الجيرتي فتخصص بكتابة التاريخ ومن أشهر أبحاثه "مظهر التقديس بذهاب دولة الفرنسيس".
وهذا الكتاب كان قد ألفه خصيصاً للتطرق للأحداث التي رافقت الحملة الفرنسية على مصر (1798-1801). إلى جانب هذا اشتهر بعض العلماء المسلمون بعملهم السباق إلى تصحيح أخطاء جالينوس واستكمال أبحاثه بتجاربهم الحية التي تيسر لهم إجراؤها في المباني التي شيدوها في دمشق وبغداد والقاهرة وغيرها من المدن العربية وبالعودة لمضمون هذا الكتاب نجد أنه جاء متخصصاً بتقديم نبذٍ مطولة ترجمت لواحد وعشرين عالم إسلامي ظهرت لهم أبحاث عدة وكتابات متخصصة في كافة العلوم بدءاً بالطب كابن سينا، فالرياضيات كالخوازمي، فالأدب كابن الأثير، فالتاريخ كالجبرتي، فالترجمة كابن خلدون…
