فالبحث في موضوع اليهود خاصة في المغرب الأقصى تعتبر درباً من الدراسات التاريخية الهامة ذلك أن يهود المغرب الأقصى خاصة في عصر المرابطين والموحدين لم ينالوا إهتمام الباحثين وبالتالي لم يظهر لم أي دور في المغرب الأقصى مما جعل الكثير من المؤرخين والباحثين لا يعرفون الكثير عنهم في هذه الفترة، واتجهوا في الدراسة في العصور الإسلامية الوسطي بالحديث عن الدول التي قامت في هذه البلاد، وعلاقات هذه الدول بعضها ببعض.
ولذلك، كان إهتمام الباحث الدكتور "عطا درية" بدراسة تاريخ اليهود ودورهم في عصر الدولة المرينية والوطاسية فأظهر الباحث دورهم الإقتصادي والإجتماعي والثقافي والسياسي في المغرب الأقصى، محاولاً أن يملأ فراغاً في المكتبة التاريخية بالنسبة لهذا الموضوع في هذه الفترة التي امتدت ثلاثة قرون ولم يتناولها الكثير من الباحثين بإستفاضة كافية.
وعليه، قسم البحث إلى مقدمة وتمهيد تاريخي وأربعة فصول وخاتمة بالإضافة إلى بعض الملاحق والخرائط والمصادر والمراجع التي تم الإعتماد عليها.
