إذا ذُكرَتِ الخَيلُ عِندَ العربِ، ذُكِرَ العِزُّ والفَوزُ وِالفَلاحُ، والنَّصْرُ والمَجْدُ، والسُّؤُدُدُ والنَّجاحُ، في الوقت الذي تُنَالُ المَطالِبُ، وتَتَحَقَّقُ الأماني، ويُحصَلُ على الأوطارِ، فتُصانُ الأعراضُ، ويُحفَظُ الشَّرَفُ، ويُحافَظُ على المُروآتِ والمُقَدَّساتِ...
ويُذْكَرُ إلى جانِبِ ذلِكَ قهْرُ أعداء الله، وإذْلالُ المُعتَدينَ، ووَطْءُ الخَصُومِ، ورَدُّ المُعتَدِينَ... فَخَيْلُنَا هي قِلاعُنا المُتَحَرْكَةُ، وحُصُونُنا الصَّامِدَةُ في وجهِ الأعداءِ الطَّامعينَ، تَحُولُ دُونَ تَدْنِيسِ ثُغُورِ البِلادِ ودُونَ المِسَاسِ بِشَرَفِ الأوطانِ... وللهَّ دَرُّ الأسْعَرِ الجُعْفِيّ حيثُ قال: ولقَد عَلِمْتُ على تَجَشُّمِيَ الرَّدَى أنَّ الحُصُونَ الخَيْلُ لا مَدَرَ القُرَى.
مَن يَقرأ كِتابَنا هذا، يُدرك وَفرَةَ أسماءِ الخَيلِ، وكَثرَةَ أوصافِها، وتَعَدُّدَ فُحُولِها، وغَزارَةَ المَوروثِ الفِكْريّ الذي يجمَعُ مُصْطَلَحاتِها، المُرتَبِطةَ بِها، التي تُؤَرْخُ لِحَياتِها، ولِفُرْسانِها، وتُشيرُ إلى وَقائعِها... وكُلُّ هذا يَدُلُّ بِصدِّقٍ على إتِّساعِ دائرَةِ إهتِمامِ العربِ بِها، وإعزازِهِم لَها، وتَعَلُّقِهِم الشَّديدِ بِها، ودَوَامِ تَفكيرِهِم بِأُمُورِها، وسَهَرِهِم على بِناءِ صِحَّتِها وعافِيَتِها... كما يُبَرهِنُ على عِلمِهِم الغَزيرِ بِها، ومَعرفتِهِم العريضَةِ الواسِعَةِ بِأحوالِها، وجميع شُؤوِنها.
وسيَجدُ مَن يَقرأ كِتَابَنا كيفَ كانَ العَربيُّ، كَثيرَ الإعتِزازِ بِفَرَسِهِ، شَديدَ التُّعَلُّقِ به، عَظيمَ المَحَبَّةِ لَهُ، يَعشَقُ رُؤيَتَهُ، ويَفخَرُ بِمَزاياهُ، يُطِيلُ النَّظَرَ في حُسْنِهِ، ويَعجَبُ بِجَمالِهِ وبَهائِهِ...
ومِن هُنا جاء اهتمِامُهُ بِرِعايَتِهِ، وعِنايَتُهُ بِتَغذيَتِهِ، ورَفاهِيَّتِهِ، وبَذلِ الجهدِ في تَنظيفِ بيئتِهِ، وإحسانِ تَدريبِهِ وتَمْرينِهِ، للإرْتِقاءِ بِأدائِهِ، والحِفاظِ على صِحَّتِهِ وعافِيَتِهِ... فَرُبَّما كانَ فَرَسُ العَربيِّ أَعَزَّ عليْهِ مِن بَنيهِ، وصاحِبَتِهِ وأخيهِ.
