حيث عمد الدكتور إحسان هندي على خدمته من خلال الشروح والإضافات التالية: 1-وضع مقدمة في إستخدام المنجنيق والأسلحة الثقيلة عند العرب المسلمين، 2-مقابلة نسختي المخطوطة مع بعضهما بإعتماد الطريقة المنهجية المقارنة، 3-شرح الرسوم التي حوتها المخطوطة والتعليق عليها، 4-شرح الكلمات والعبارات الفنية أو الغامضة حسب سياقها في النص، 5-وضع الفهارس اللازمة لخدمة النص.
