أم المؤمنين حفصة بنت عمر رضي الله عنها يكفيها في الإسلام شرفاً أنها من أمهات المؤمنين. نشأت في جمع كريم ووسط بيت مبارك، وفي بيت يجل العلم والتعلم، نشأت فنهلت من علوم الدين والأدب ما قدر لها أن تنهل، حتى قيل عنها إنها إحدى فصيحات النساء من قريش، وقد تعلمت الكتابة من الشفاء بنت عبد الله القرشية العدوية، واستقام لسانها، وفصح نطقها حينما رتلت القرآن ترتيلاً. ولما اكتملت لها أنوثة الأنثى تزوجها خنيس بن حذافة السهمي، وعاشت معه مسلماً مهاجراً قريرة العين مطمئنة البال والخاطر، وهاجرت معه إلى المدينة، وهناك ترملت بعد وفاته. وعلى صفحات هذا الكتاب يسرد الكاتب سيرة أم المؤمنين حفصة مستهلاً سيرتها بإطلالة على ملامح من شخصية وسيرة أبيها العاطرة.
