يولد الإنسان وهو متصف بأخلاق ما بالقوّة، وقد تكون هذه الأخلاق او الصفات متوارثة عن آبائه، أو مما أودعها الله - سبحانه - فيه تلطّفاً به بعد أنْ علم منه الخير في الأزل، وما أنْ يكبر وتظهر عليه معالم الإنسانية حتى تصدر عنه صفات هذه الأخلاق إلى الفعل، سواء على المستوى الإيجابي أو على المستوى السلبي، ولكن من فضل الله تعالى على عباده، لم يجعلهم أسارى لهذه الصفات، وإنما زوّدهم بالقدرة على الإختيار، وقوّة الإرادة التي تمكّنهم من تغيير صفاتهم من قبائح الأخلاق إلى فضائلها.
ولم يتوقف عطاء الله تعالى عند هذا الحد وحسب، وإنما تواصل لطفه على عباده، بأنْ أرسل إليهم من أنفسهم رسلاً هادين ومهديين، وأوكل إليهم وظيفة هدي العباد إليه عزّ وجلّ، بإراءتهم الصراط المستقيم الموصل إلى رضاه، والفوز بعطائه الأبدي في الدار الآخرة.
