هذا الأثر الجديد النّادر لأبي الفرج الأصفهاني فتح في الأدب القديم لدراسة الشّعر العربي للقرنين الثاني والثالث الهجريين عامة والعمدة عليه في دراسة الأدب خاصة والمصنفات التي جاءت بعده متّكلة عليه في ذلك تحذو حذوه أو تنقل عنه أحياناً نقلاً ظاهراً.
إن تأثير القيان في الحياة الأدبية العباسية في ذلك الزمن أولاً بإعتبارهن كنّ موضوعاً للأدب ومصدراً لإلهام الشعراء ووحي المفكرين والأدباء وثانية بإعتبارهن الشاعرات الأديبات والقائلات الناقدات، إذ لا تنكر مساهمة القبان في دفع حركة التّجدد والتّولد بما طوّرن من نظم وأبدعن من إنشاء ربما ابتكرن من أساليب وصور وما قاربن من لغة سهلة رقيقة ابتعدت عن الغرابة والتعقيد وتجافت عن البداوة.
ولعل الفضل في ذلك يعود أساساً إلى صناعة الغناء وحاجاتها إلى كون غنيّ بالموسيقى والإيقاعات الجديدة، كون غيّر وجه الشعر وحوله عن وجهه التقليدي القديم وكان سمة تمييزية لمرحلة خطيرة من مراحل الشعر العربي أدبيّة وتاريخيّة.
