وجاء ترتيب مواد الكتاب بأسلوب متسلسل فبدأ الكتاب بالفصل الأول متحدثاً عن المجموعة الشمسية بشكل عام من حيث نشوءها ومدارات الكواكب السيارة والجاذبية وحركة الكواكب والخصائص العامة وغيرها من المعلومات الهامة، دون إغفال الجوانب التاريخية التي تثري مادة الكتاب تجعل صورة المجموعة الشمسية تترسخ بشكل أفضل في ذهن القارئ.
ثم تحدث الفصل الثاني عن الشمس أهم أعضاء المجموعة الشمسية ومركزها، ثم انتقل إلى الحديث عن الكواكب السيارة في الفصول أخرى بدءاً من عطارد أقرب أعضاء المجموعة الشمسية إلينا وحتى بلوتو أبعد الكواكب السيارة بشكل متسلسل، ثم تناولت القمر والكويكبات والمذنبات والشهب والنيازك.
وقد راعى أن تزود مواضيع الكتاب بصور ,اشكال توضيحية قدر الإمكان لكي تصل الفكرة بشكل أفضل إلى القارئ، وهذا هو الأسلوب الذي يفضل إتباعه في المؤلفات العلمية الحديثة.
