تناولنا في هذا الكتاب أهمَّ الأسُسِ التي ينبغي العملُ بها لإنجازِ مُعْجَم عربيّ مُحَوْسَب معتمدٍ على السِّمات المُميزة والتّفريغ المقوليّ، بإعتباره من وجهة نظر الباحث مُعْجَماً مقارباً للمُعْجَم الذّهني، وهو يحاول بهذه الأسس معالجة المعْجَم المُحَوْسَب الذي تعتمده التّطبيقات اللغويّة بسدِّ بعض الثّغرات المُعْجَميّة، كالتّحشيّات الصّرفيّة والإعرابيّة والتّركيبيّة والدّلاليّة التي تعوّض عن غياب الحدس اللغويّ لدى الحاسوب.
فمن خلال هذه السِّمات يستطيع الحاسوب التّمييز بين التركيبات اللّغويّة المتعددة ذات الرأس الفعليّ الواحد، كما يستطيع التّفريق بين المترادفات والمشترك اللفظيّ بالإعتماد على السَّمات الأوليّة التي تألف منها الدلالة، واعتمد البحث المنهج الوصفيّ التحليليّ، منطلقاً من مبادئ المدرسة التوليديّة وخاصّة مبدأ الرأسيّة العامليّة والبرنامج الأدنويّ وكيفيّة إستغلال ذلك في صناعة المُعْجَم.
وعرض البحث كذلك للمشاريع الرافدة لمثل هذا العمل، مثل الأنطولوجيّات الدلاليّة والمحلّلات الصّرفيّة والبنوك الشّجريّة للتّحاليل النحويّة المختلفة، مع إقتراحات حلول لبعض المشكلات التي انطوت عليها هذه المشاريع.
وعرض الباحث في الفصل الأخير مدوَّنة مكوَّنة من حوالي 260 مدخلاً مُعْجَمياً من بنك بنسلفانيا، وحُلّلت مفرداتها كاملة، كلمة كلمة، إلى أقسام الكلام والسِّمات الصّرفيّة والإعرابيّة والدّلاليّة والأدوار الدّلاليّة لكل موضوعات الفعل، كما اقترح تصميم محلّلات لغويّة كالمحلّل الصّرفيّ والمحلّل الدّلاليّ والمحلّل النّحويّ، مع أهم التّطبيقات اللّغويّة، المعرِّب الآليّ والمدقّق النّحويّ والإملائيّ والمترجم الآليّ، وعرض صوراً لبعض تلك التّطبيقات.
وانتهى البحث إلى عدة نتائج من أهمها التأكيد على ضرورة إعادة النّظر في التّوصيف اللغوي للكلمة العربيّة بما يخدم الحاسوب، كما أكّد ضرورة الإستعانة بالذّخائر النّصيّة المتاحة مع أهميّة إستكمال ما فيها من نقص في تحشيّات السِّمات الدّلاليّة لكلّ مدخل مُعْجَميّ والأدوار الدّلاليّة لكل دور محوريّ في التركيب.
