تحت عنوان "إستلقاء طويل" يقول الشاعر سعد الأحمد: "أستلقي عند ظهر الماء... أهدهدُ صحوة الريح... أصفي لصمت الحياة... أنفخ الغيم ترانيم للسماء... ألون الأزرق برائحة الفجر... وبرتقال الشفق... أزرع شجرة اليقطين... على مدّ صبري... وأهدي لضجر الليل... وسن الكلمات في فمي... أنا الشجيرة المنسية... على عتباتك... متى تنبت لي يدٌ... لأطرق الباب؟...
يضم الكتاب قصائد في الشعر العربي الحديث جاءت تحت العناوين الآتية: "وقفة"، ينتعل الجمر"، "ما يشبه الرقص"، "أصابع مفخخة"، "وسادتي تسرق الأحلام"، "يتظاهر أنه والدي"، "لحظتها"، "مائدة للريح"، "سراب"... وعناوين أخرى.
