في مجموعتها القصصية هذه، عرفت نفلة المطيري كيف تعزف بقلمها على أوتار الوجع، وقصور خلجات قلوب مكلومة، لا بل عرفت كيف تخلط الحزن بالفرح والفرح بالحزن عبر مقطوعات مختلفة من الإبداع تقترب من (القصة القصيدة) يتضح ذلك في ما يحتويه الكتاب من سيناريوهات الموت والحزن والوداع إلى الحنين والشعور بالآخر لحظة وقوع الحدث، ويشخص ذلك أمامنا عن طريق السرد وكأنه كائن حيّ يتحرك في جميع الإتجاهات في وقت واحد، وغير ذلك من تصوير للصراع في النفس الإنسانية بين عواطف متضاربة نكتشفها حين نمرر أعيننا بين عناوين المجموعة "أنفاس مسافرة" وفيها تحكي قصة فتاة اختارت الموت وحيدة حتى لا تُحمل أبويها "ألم إنتظار لحطة الفقد"، وحكاية "تمتماتٌ بحكاية" وتجسد فيها المؤلفة التضحية من أجل من نحب "اختارك قلبها... وأرى لقلبك السعادة معها...". وغيرها من معاني إنسانية، أما الشخصية السردية في كل حكاية، فهي بالغة الحساسية، تتدفق مشاعرها القوية تدفقاً عفوياً، تروي أحوالها وأخبارها، ما يمنح السرد مصداقية، ويكون القارئ إزاء فعل درامي متصاعد متنامٍ حتى الوصول إلى الخاتمة.
