يجسد النص المسرحي الواقع عبر رؤية ذاتية فردية يشكلها المؤلف بتعامله مع العناصر المقننة داخل نسيجه النصي من شخصيات، وحوار وأحداث وأفعال في بنية النص، وتتداخل هذه العناصر في الحبكة الدرامية حسب الظروف المعطاة في النص، لتشكل مناطق حرة تقبل التأويل وتشكيل المعنى، لترتبط بشخصية المتلقي ليشكل مبدءاً جدليا ًوفكريا ًداخل حدود النص، مما يؤدي إلى توسع رقعة الدور الذي يؤدِّيه المتلقي في عملية القراءة؛ ليشكل سلطة تقابله سلطة المؤلف، وما يربطهما الرسالة (النص) تبث في مناخ رد فعل المتلقي، لذا فان سلطة المتلقي تتصف بالذاتية المعبرة عن انفعالات ليحمّلُها دلالاتٍ ومعانٍ كثيرة، ومن هنا كانت الأهمية في تحديد منهج عملية القراءة والتأويل، لأن الذاتية قد تفلت زمامها لتؤدي إلى تشويه المعنى للظاهرة الأدبية نفسها.
