في روايتها "زمن الهمهمات" تعالج الروائية فاطمة الجلاف موضوع مجهولي الهوية والمعاناة التي تلحق بهذه الفئة إجتماعياً والقهر النفسي الناتج عن الطفولة المعذبة - كما في مرحلة النضج والشباب.
تتمحور الرواية حول وطأة القمع الإجتماعي (أعراف وتقاليد) أو الجسد (عنف وجنس) أو الدين (الحلال والحرام) لنكون أمام مسارات روائية مقموعة بوسائل كثيرة ومصائر سلبية عاشتها بطلة الرواية (سلامة) التي لم تستطع أن تلحق بقطار الزواج لأنها مجهولة الهوية، وإجمال إنساني جاء نتيجة لقاء حميمي بين امرأة ورجل، تركاها على قارعة الطريق، فرضعت من رضاعة الألم، بعدما فقدت ثدي أمها، وحضن أبيها، "عجبت من صنع أمي... بدلاً من أن تصنع لي الخبز صنعت وتفنت في صنع الألم الذي لن يبرأ!!... وأيضاً عجبتُ من صنع أبي... بدلاً من أن يأخذ بيدي... رماني... رُميت كائناً حيواناً بلا عقل!".
ولكن (سلامة) قررت كسر القيود التي كبلت طفولتها، بإرادة قوية وعزم على التغيير فهل سينجح؟...
هي قصة (سلامة) في (زمن الهمهمات) قصة يمنعها الزمن من التداول... وحقوق طبعها محفوظة بين جدران الأمل!!، فلنقرأها بأخلاق وروية...
