"معاني القرآن" قديم في الفكر اللغوي الإسلامي، نشأ وترعرع في أعزّ أيامه وأشرقها وأدلها على القدرة والابتكار. وقد كتب تحته أئمة كبار، وهم وإن اتفقوا في الروح والمنهج العام تظهر بينهم اختلافات كثيرة في تنفيذه واهتمامه بمفرداته وتناولهم لها، وكل منهم يمثل عصره الذي كتبه فيه، ومذهبه النحوي الذي يميل إليه.
واليوم يكتب مجدداً في هذا الموضوع ولكن بأسلوب مختلف، لأنه من الضروري جداً أن تأخذ الكتابة منحى معاصر، وذلك بهدف التوجه إلى جميع القراء دون استثناء، وذلك لتسيير فهم القرآن عليهم وإيضاح معانيه إليهم.
ولذا تميز هذا المؤلف بمنهج واضح المعالم، بالإمكان تلخيصه كالتالي: 1-تناول الآيات آية آية دون ترك شيء منها. 2-تناول المفردات حتى السهل منها، بيان معاني الكلمات، وتحليل التراكيب، والأساليب إما تفصيلاً، وإما إجمالاً إذا كان المعنى واضحاً جلياً أو تكررت الكلمة أو التركيب أو الأسلوب، أو الآية كلها. 3-البعد عن الخلاف، وعن الخوض في الأقوال، والآراء، والمذاهب، أيّاً كان لونها. 4-عدم ذكر نصوص أخرى من الآثار، أو الأقوال الفصيحة، والأشعار التي امتلأت بها كتب التراث، لبيان المعاني، وتأصيل الألفاظ، وإيضاح المراد، وعدم التأويل، لأن هذه المحاولة موجهة لجمهور المسلمين، والنصوص الإضافية ترهقهم وتستدعي منهم جهداً لفهمها قد يعجزون عنه. 5-بيان المعاني اللغوية للكلمات، وتحليل الجمل، والأساليب والإشارة إلى المعاني المجازية والأسرار البلاغية بين الحين والآخر، والاستعانة بالاعراب عند الحاجة دون الإكثار منه، والبعد عن المصطلحات اللغوية، أو النحوية، أو البلاغية المعقدة، مع الإيجاز في ذلك كله. 6-الالتزام فيه بقراءة نافع برواية قالون.
