"الهوية 2000" تحيل بأحداثها ووقائعها إلى ذلك الشعور الذي يظل يطارد صحابه حتى شيخوخته، وهو أنه فاقداً للهوية، ويبحث عن المعادل الإجتماعي الذي يعيد به إنتاج نفسه ووعيه بالمجتمع.
في هذه الرواية تتحدث الروائية ريما إبراهيم حمود عن فئة مجهولي الهوية، فما بين تاريخ شخصي لم يصنعاه، وحاضر يقتربان عنه، ومستقبل مجهول الأفق يتردى بطلا الرواية، "تيماء"، و"آدم"، ليمثلا حالة من عدم الإنتماء إلى الآخرين، يبحثان عن معنى لحياتهما فلا يجدا، تربياً في ملجأ للإيتام، وعندما كبرا حاولا إستعادة توازن مفقود في عالم الواقع، فعرفا أنهما في حالة حلمٍ مستحيل...
تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية حتى يتزوجا وينجبا طفلاً، ثم يتهم "آدم" بجريمة قتل، تثبت براءته منها، يفترقان تحت وطأة الظروف الصعبة، ويذهب كلٌ منهما إلى مصيره.
من أجواء الرواية نقرأ: "طفل... ينتسب لي... أنا آدم الذي لم يكن طفلاً قط أجيء بطفل إلى هذا العالم القذر.. أجني ع ليه بيديّ هاتين.. أعرّضه لكل الهوان الذي أذوقه وكل العذاب الذي تتجرعه تيماء، طفل قد يعيش طريداً مثلي... هارباً من مدينة لأخرى باحثاً عن مخبأ".
