قدم المؤلف في هذا الكتاب وصفاً لأبرز أحداث الرحلة الاستكشافية التي قام بها مع كل من هاري سنت جون فيلبي وكونزاك ريكمان وجاك ريكمان إلى وسط الجزيرة العربية، وذلك في عام1371هـ (1951م). شملت هذه الرحلة كلاً من جدة والطائف وبيشة وأبها ووداي تثليث ونجران ووداي الدواسر والرياض، وتتميز هذه الرحلة برصد الكثير من المواقع الجغرافية والمعالم الأثرية والنقوش القديمة في المناطق التي مرّ بها أفراد البعثة الاستكشافية، كما يتضمن هذا الكتاب مجموعة من الصور الفوتوغرافية التي التقطها المؤلف أثناء الرحلة، وقّدم لهذا الكتاب فيلبي الذي أشرف على ترتيبات هذه الرحلة، وقدّم نتائجها للملك عبد العزيز.
