تناول هذا الكتاب بحث عن قبيلة الحقبان، وهو امتداد ضروري لنشاط المعاصرين في التاريخ للأسر والبيوت والقبائل المعاصرة، وربطها بأصلها من القبائل القديمة، وهذا الامتداد ضرورة تاريخية بعد حقب من الأمية والعامية كاد يضيع فيها تاريخ قبائل المنطقة الوسطى من هذه الجزيرة سوى أثارة من الشعر العامي، وتواشج بين التاريخ والأسطورة. وقد اشتمل هذا الكتاب على أربعة أبواب : تناول الباب الأول منها نسب الحقبان وفروعهم ومواطنهم. وتضمن : نسبهم، وفروعهم الرئيسة والقبائل التي استقلت عنهم، ومواطنهم في شبة الجزيرة العربية. وتحدث الباب الثاني عن علاقة قبيلة الحقبان بالدولة السعودية الكريمة. وتضمن لمحة عن نشأة الدولة السعودية، والتقاء الحقبان بآل السعود في النسب في وائل والد بكر وتغلب، والتعريف بعدد من ذوي المسؤولية من الحقبان، وثناء الملك عبدالعزيز على الحقبان أهل القرى. وتناول الباب الثالث قصص وقصائد للإفادة التاريخية والتشويق الأدبي. وتضمن أبيات في الحماسة من معلقة عمرو بن كلثوم التغلبي، وأوى عيال في كمدة من الأمثال العامية، وعرض الباب الرابع والأخير وائلية الحقبان، وأخيرا مصادر البحث.
