تختلف هذه السردية القصيرة عن سرديات السالم المطولة ببقائها ضمن حيز مكاني واحد وتناوِر في زمنين هما الماضي والمستقبل من دون الإشارة إلى الحاضر، بمعنى هي رواية مستقبلية في أحداثها التخييلية التي استثمر فيها السالم لغة الشعر كثيراً من دون التقيد بلوازم السرد الروائي المتعارف عليه، كسراً لهذه القاعدة الروائية في محاولة شخصية لتحديث الشكل الروائي في مجمل إنتاجاته لا سيما في روايته “الحلوة” التي استعمل فيها الترقيم شكلاً وحاضنة للأحداث.
هذه الرواية الجديدة تعود قليلا إلى عام 2006 حيث الاحتراب الطائفي الأهلي في العراق وتوثقه عبر عدسة إعلامي ياباني شهد تلك الوقائع وسجلها فيديويا آنذاك ليحتفظ بها طيلة 30 سنة.
ثم يعيد الياباني عرض أشرطته المصورة والتي تمثل شهادات حية عن معاناة العراقيين، في نفس المكان ويسندها إلى نفس الشخصيات التي عانت من ويلات الطائفية والتهجير والقتل على الهوية، ونجت من الموت بأعجوبة سردية، لتعيش المستقبل بطريقة ثانية تفترق كثيراً عن العيش في الماضي أو الحاضر.
السالم أصدر عدداً من الروايات في السنوات الأخيرة في مشروعه السردي من أبرزها: “عذراء سنجار” و”الحلوة” و”تجميع الأسد” و”عجائب بغداد”
