هذا الكتاب هو باكورة مشروع لوضع أسس علم دراسات العراق (عراقولوجي) الذي نرى أن الوقت قد حان لشغل رفوفه بنظام جديد يجمع تراثه المبعثر والمنهوب، عن طريق وضع الدراسات والبحوث العلمية لتاريخيه وحضاراته التي قام بها علماء أجانب وعراقيون وعرب ووضعها في سياق هذا العلم بالإضافة الى مايمكن أن يُكتب وفق هذا الإتجاه من جديد بوعيّ تأسيسيّ رصين لهذا العلم وبتنميط تاريخيّ دقيق لتاريخ وحضارات وثقافات وتراث العراق منذ عصور ماقبل التاريخ وحتى حاضره الراهن.
الكتاب هو أول كتب هذا التأسيس، وسيتناول تاريخ وثقافات عراق ماقبل التاريخ وهي تفرش الأرضية التي ستبنى عليها أول حضارة تاريخية نظامية وهي الحضارة السومرية.
سيكون هناك تعريف بعلم العراق (عراقولوجي) وأسسه وأقسامه والعلماء الذين يمكن الإستفادة من أعمالهم في تأسيس هذا العلم، وسيكون هناك تعريف بشخصية العراق من خلال علوم الجيولوجيا والجغرافيا والإيكولوجيا والديموغرافيا والعمران والتاريخ العام للعراق.
الثقافات الـ 13 لعراق ماقبل التاريخ كانت هي جذور تأسيس بواكير العراق التاريخية، تلك الثقافات التي ابتدأت من 120.000 ق.م وصولاً إلى 2900 ق.م، ثم ظهرت بعدها سومر بفجر السلالات وبدأت قصة أول حضارة بشرية ستؤسس للعراق أولاً حضاراته القادمة وتؤسس للعالم كله حضارات جديدة تبتعد بتنوعاتها حسب إيقاع شعوبها المختلفة. هذا الكتب وماسيليه من الكتب ستقوم باستثمار علوم التاريخ والحضارة والآثار والأنثروبولوجيا والإجتماع والسيميلوجيا والتأويل لاستنطاق مناجم الكنوز الرافدينية العراقية وجعلها تبوح بما لم تبح به سابقاً.
