أخذ هذا الكتيب طابع الموضوع الواحد ذي الفصل الواحد إذ كان عموده الفقري يقوم أساسا على الإختبارات النفسية والشخصية في السياق المدرسي، وقد بينت لجنة التأليف أهداف التعلم القائمة على الإستعدادات العقلية وتبيان مميزاتها وعيوبها مع شرح لمميزات استخدام الإختبارات الجماعية واختبارات التطبيق الفردي التي تسبقها التوعية المهنية.
والكتيب يتناول أربعة أنماط للإختبارات المقننة التي تقوم مجموعة متنوعة من سمات الطلاب غير التحصيل المرتبط بالمنهج.
فالفئة الأولى تستخدم الإختبارات في تقويم الإستعداد المدرسي العام، والفئة الثانية من الإختبارات تستخدم لتقويم الميول والإهتمامات المهنية. والفئة الثالثة منها تستخدم في تقويم إستعدادات الطلاب نحو المدرسة والأسرة والمؤسسات الأخرى، وأما الفئة الرابعة فإنها الإستعداد والتحصيل.
ولم يغفل الكتيب توضيح شروط التدريس الخاصة بتطور الإستعداد نحو التدريس التوافقي واللاتوافقي، مسهبا في تبيان العوامل الخاصة بثبات الدرجة وتغيرها.
