إن الهدف من وجود الإنسان هو تحقيق العبودية لله عزّ وجلّ، وبما أنه سبحانه وتعالى لم يكلنا إلى أنفسنا في تحقيق ذلك، بل أرسل إلينا الرسل وأيدهم بالوحي الأمين الذي نزل بالكتاب المبين وأرسل إلينا وإلى الأمم كافة سيدنا محمد بن عبد الله صلى الله عليه وسلم بالهدى ودين الحق، وأكمل به بنيان النبوة، وختم به ديوان الرسالة، وأتم به مكارم الأخلاق وجعل الفلاح لمن اتبع كتابه، والخسران لمن أعرض عنه، عجزت الخلائق عن معارضته حين تحداهم على أن يأتوا بسورة من مثله، ثم سهل على عباده المؤمنين تلاوته ويَسَّرَ عليهم قراءته.
فلذلك راح علماء المسلمين ويبحثون عن معاني القرآن العظيم ليقفوا على ما فيه من مواعظها وعبر وأحكام وغير ذلك، وما خفي عليهم رجعوا إلى سنّة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ليكشف عليه السلام من خلال ذلك ما دق عن أفهامهم وخفي عن إدراكهم وهو الذي عليه البيان كما أن عليه البلاغ.
ومن هؤلاء العلماء، الذين ساهموا في تفسير القرآن الكريم، مؤلف هذا الكتاب وهو الإمام الفقيه المفسر الصوفي، إسماعيل حقي بن مصطفى الإسلامبولي الحنفي (1127هـ)، ومن آثاره العلمية يأتي هذا الكتاب روح البيان في تفسير القرآن الكريم ويُعرف بتفسير حقي وهو كتابٌ مهم لخصه المؤلف من صفحات في التفسير قبله، وأضاف من روحه الصوفية على تفسيره، فنجده يستطرد أثناء تفسيره إلى كثير من المواعظ المبكيات والحكم الغاليات.
وكذلك يستطرد بذكر بعض المسائل الأصولية، والنحوية، والبلاغية وإن كان لا يتوسع في ذلك، ولأهمية هذا الكتاب، اعتنى بتحقيقه الأستاذ أحمد عناية حيث 1-وضع مقدمة تشتمل على: مقدمة التحقيق، ترجمة المؤلف، لمحة موجزة عن علم التفسير وتطوره، 2-قام بضبط النص ووضع علامات الترقيم، 3-قابم بتخريج الآيات القرآنية المستشهد بها، 4-قام بتخريج الأحاديث النبوية.
