هذا الكتاب، وهو جهد متواضع يضع أمام معلمي التربية الإسلامية في المراخل المختلفة المبادىء والأسس، والأساليب، والوسائل التعليمية، والتقويمية اللازمة في مجال تدريس التربية الدينية الإسلامية، في ضوء ما أسفرت عنه البحوث العلمية والتربوية والنفسية، ما تهدي إليه الخبرة الميدانية.
ويشتمل الكتاب على عدة فصول يتناول الفصل الأول منها مفهوم التربية الدينية الإسلامية وتحديات تدريسها في ضوء العولمة والتكنولوجيا. أما الفصل الثاني فيتضمن دور التربية الدينية الإسلامية في تنمية القيم البيئية وبخاصة حمايتها من التلوث. ويشتمل الفصل الثالث على أهداف تدريس التربية الدينية الإسلامية واستخدام الأهداف السلوكية وتصنيفها. أما الفصل الرابع فيتناول أهم مبادىء التدريس في ضوء السيرة النبوية وبصفة خاصة الإسراء والمعراج. ويتناول الفصل الخامس الطرائق والأساليب العامة لتدريس التربية الإسلامية ودورها في تنمية التفكير. ويشتمل الفصل السادس على تدريس العقيدة. والفصل السابع عن تدريس القرآن الكريم تلاوة وتفسيرا. والفصل الثامن عن تدريس الحديث النبوي الشريف. والفصل التاسع عن تدريس السيرة النبوية. والفصل العاشر عن تدريس الفقه (العبادات). وتناول الفصل الحادي عشر تدريس القيم والتهذيب. والفصل الثاني عشر التخطيط لتدريس التربية الدينية الإسلامية. والفصل الثالث عشر استخدام تقنيات التعليم في تدريس التربية الدينية الإسلامية.
