يلقي طلبة المدارس مشقة جمة في فهم دروس اللغة العربية واستيعابها، بسبب التعقيد الذي تحفل به كتب اللغة ومنشأ ذلك التعقيد اللجوء إلى استعمال تعبير لا تدل على معانيها وانعدام التحديات الواضحة، واتباع طريقة التكرار دون الفهم ناهيك عن كثرة التفاصيل الثانوية التي تستغرق وقت التلميذ وجهده.
وتسهيلاً لمهمة المدرس والتلميذ على حد سواء وضخ الدكتور رولان سيف هذا الكتاب الذي يعرض قواعد اللغة العربية بطريقة سهلة ومحببة تقرب المادة إلى أذهان التلامذة وتحببها إليهم. يقع الكتاب في ثلاثة أجزاء يشرح الجزء الأول "بشروحات" دور الكلمة في الجملة، كما يتضمن عدة أنواع من التمارين مع أجوبتها زود باختبار في أول الكتاب الغاية من تقييم معرفة القارئ وتوجيه خطاه نحو اكتساب المزيد، واختبار في آخر الكتاب غايته تقييم مدى استفادة القارئ من هذا الكتاب. وقد اعتمد المؤلف طريقة تشمل ثلاثة مراحل: شرح-مَثَل-تمرين.
والكتاب يتضمن مئة جملة منقولة عن القرآن الكريم وست مئة بيت من عيون الشعر العربي، ويتحاشى استعمال التعبير غير الواضحة مثل: مبتدأ وخبر، مضاف ومضاف إليه، نائب فاعل، أفعل التفضيل-وغير ذلك"، وتستعمل مكانها تعابير مثل: اسم أساسي واسم متمم واسم متبوع واسم تابع وغير ذلك. والكتاب عموماً يتوجه إلى جميع الطلاب والمحترفين. ويتضمن الجزء الثاني التمارين مع أجوبة وتعليقات أما الجزء الثالث فيتضمن تمارين إضافية مع أجوبة وتعليقات.
