إن موضوع التوحد وإضطراب السلوك لدى الأطفال من الموضوعات التربوية والنفسية المعاصرة، حيث أن هذه المشكلة التي يعاني منها عدد غير قليل في العالم بوجه عام، ومردودها السلبي ليس مقصوراً على هؤلاء المرضى بصفة خاصة، بل على آبائهم والمجتمع الذي ينسبون إليه ويعيشون ضمن أجناسه المختلفة.
ومن هنا، فإن هذه الدراسة تخدم شريحة كبيرة من المجتمع وتقدم منهجاً علمياً سليماً للطريقة المثلى للتعامل مع هذه الفئة التي قد تكون في كثير من الأحيان سبباً واضحاً في شقاء المصاب وتدميره صحياً وجسدياً ونفسياً وعقلياً، وتكون في الوقت نفسه سبباً في شقاء الأسرة وتعاسة أهل المريض.
لذلك، نبحث في هذه الدراسة إلى توضيح هذه المشكلة لمعرفة أسبابها والدوافع المؤدية إلى هذه الحالة، التي يستطيع الطب النفسي والعلم الحديث حلها إذا كانت في بدايتها، وعندما تتطور هذه الحالة فإنه يكون أحياناً صعوبة في علاجها.
وقد جاء هذا الكتاب في تسعة فصول على النحو الآتي: الفصل الأول: "التوحد ومعناه"، أما الفصل الثاني: "فكان للنظريات العلمية المفسرة للتوحد"، وفي الفصل الثالث: "تحدث عن النظرية العينية للتوحد"، أما الفصل الرابع: "فشرح نظرية زيادة الأفيون المخدر"، الفصل الخامس: "فقد أفرد للحديث عن طريق علاج التوحد والوقاية منه"، أما الفصل السادس: "فهو للملاحق الغذائية التي تساعد المصابين بالتوحد".
أما الفصل السابع: "فقد كان لنظرية القوة المحركة"، والفصل الثامن: "فوقف عند الرعاية التربوية والتعليمية لأطفال التوحد"، والفصل الأخير: "فقد تحدث عن الضعف النوعي في التفاعل المتبادل لدى التوحديين".
