لقد أثبت المؤلف في هذا الكتاب أن السنة النبوية سبقت الحضارة المعاصرة إلى الرعاية بالحيوان، وسلامته، والرفق به، سواء بالتوجيهات، والتعليمات، والأحكام، أم بالممارسة.
واشتملت صور الإحسان إلى الحيوان في السنة النبوية على الأمر بسقيه، وإطعامه، وحسن ركوبه، وذبحه، وصيده، وقتله، وإراحته، وحفظه، والعناية ببعض أنواعه النافعة والإستفادة منها، والنهي عن ذبح أنثاه الحلوب، والأمر بالعناية بصحته، ثم إكرامه بتسميته.
كما منعت السنة النبوية الإعتداء على الحيوان من خلال النهي عن إتلاف النافع منه لغير حاجة، أو مصلحة مقصودة في حالة السلم والحرب، والنهي عن إتخاذه غرضاً للرمي، وصبره، والتمثيل به، وقطع جزء منه وهو حي، وإبادة أي نوع منه، وإخصائه، والأمر بالمحافظة على السلالة الطيبة منه، والنهي عن إيذائه؛ كوسمه، وضربه في الوجه، ولعنه، وسبه، وترويعه، والتحريش بين أفراده...
كما حثت السنّة النبوية على إيجاد المحميات الحيوانية، والعناية بالحيوان الضال، أو المسيب وإستغلاله، ووقفه...
