هو الكتاب السابع في سلسلة دراسات في الاقتصاد الإسلامي التي يصدرها المعهد العالمي للفكر الإسلامي. وتمثل هذه السلسة نتاج مشروع دراسة صيغ المعاملات المصرفية، والاستثمارية، والمالية المستخدمة في المؤسسات الإسلامية، وخاصة في البنوك، وشركات الاستثمار. ويغطي الكتاب مع غيره من كتب هذه السلسة عدداً من الموضوعات المتصلة بالصيغ التي تنظم علاقات هذه المؤسسات، سواء كانت مع غيرها من الافراد، والمؤسسات الاخرى، أو في جانب استخداماتها للأموال المتاحة لها، أو في جانب الخدمات الأخرى غير التمويلية التي تقوم بها. ويتناول الكتاب مفهوم المضاربة في ضوء تركيزه على فقه التجربة لهذا المفهوم، وفي ضوء سعيه لملاءمته مع المنهج الفكري الإسلامي. ويدرس التطبيق العلمي لصيغة المضاربة في المصارف الإسلامية، وتحديد المعوقات التي واجهت تطبيق هذه الصيغة، مع بحث مدى امكانية تطوير العمل بها للتغلب على المعوقات التي تواجهها، وذلك في إطار الضوابط والأسس الشرعية التي تحكم عقد المضاربة في الفقه الإسلامي. ويتضمن الكتاب جزئيين، حيث يتناول الجزء النظري عقد المضاربة في مصادر الفقه الإسلامي، وتحليل الدراسات المعاصرة التي تتناول عقد المضاربة وقضية المصارف الإسلامية. أما الجزء الميداني، فيستند على الزيارات الميدانية، والاستقصاء المكتوب، وآراء بعض علماء الاقتصاد الإسلامي والشريعة في صيغة المضاربة والمعوقات التي تواجهها والكتاب يوكد على ضرورة تطوير صيغة المضاربة، انطلاقاً من فقه التجربة وعدم الاكتفاء بفقه النظرية، ويدعو إلى استحداث أدوات جديدة في إطار عقود المضاربة المطبقة في المصارف الإسلامية.
