"خط الصديق" وفجأة يشير إلى صورة أسد بوجه إنسان وهذا هنا يدعي علي وفوقه يمكنك أن ترى 13 الفقار السيف ذا اللسانين، وخط الصديق الرواية، تمزج بين الواقع والحلم، وتستحضر بعض الطقوس والوقائع الصوفية التي يتيمز بها عالم الشرق الذي تهيمن أجواؤه على أحداث الرواية، ومن المعروف إن الكاتبة بابرا فريشموت قد درست الاستشراق وعاشت فترة طويلة في مدينة أرضروم التركية.
"كان يا ما كان..." هذا حلم لا يستطيع المرء أن يستفيق منه إلا بصعوبة بالغة. تحلم آنا مارغوتى أنها تشق طريقها عبر العديد من المخاطر، عزلاء ووحيدة.
ترى نفسها وهي تسير إلى المحطة على زاوية شارع مجهول، الخط رقم سبعة وقد تملكها حذر شديد. سيان إن كان ضباباً أو غشاوة على البصر، فالاتجاه مرسوم مسبقاً. كذلك الركاب مصنوعين من ورق مكتوب من فوق إلى تحت. يحاول أحد الحروف الأبجدية أن يصطادها، يلتقطها بصنارته مخرجاً إياها من داخلها ويتركها معلقة بين السماء والأرض، ولكنها لا تزال بحاجة إلأى أرض ثابتة تحت قدميها.
