احتفالاً بمرور ثلاثمائة سنة على تأسيس الرهينة المارونية الحلبية أولاً ثم اللبنانية وأخيراً المريمية التي أسسها الرهبان الحلبيون الأتقياء والمثقفون. بهذه المناسبة يأتي هذا الكتاب عن ديرها الأول مار الشيع النبي الذي كان في هذا الوادي المقدس ما قبل سنة 1315 عندما كان يترأسه عليه المطران بطرس أسقف بلدة بشري في الفصل الأول من الكتاب يشرح المؤلف تاريخ دير البشع القديم والجديد، ومن كان يسكن فيه قبل مؤسسيه. وفي الفصلين الثاني والثالث، تم تسجيل كل الصكوك التاريخية على اختلافها. وتم في الفصل الرابع إيراد المراسيم الحكومية المتعددة، كما تم شرح المشاركة الكثيرة على مزرعة مارنوهوا بين الدير وشركائه وفي الفصل الخامس تم شرح حياة المؤسسين الأربعة. وتكلم الفصل السادس عن إخلاء دير مار اليشع بسبب لاضطهادات ثم الرجوع إليه وأما الفصل السابع فقد تضمن كل أنواع الحجج لمشترى الأراضي في أمكنة متعددة مذكورة بوضوح في شتى مضامين الكتاب، وتم في الفصل الثامن الإشارة إلى تقهقر أحوال الدير وتعيين نائب رئيس عليه تحت إدارة دير مار انطونيوس برومة. وفي الفصل التاسع تم الحديث عن بناء دير ثان جديد على اسم مار اليشع أيضاً قائم على رأس التلة المقابلة للدير القديم. وذلك في سنة 1874. وخصص الفصل العاشر للائحة مرتبة بأسماء رؤساء الدير الذين تولوا إدارة الدير القديم والدير الجديد. وأيضاً لبعض المكاتيب الرسمية لحفظها عبر التاريخ لأهميتها.
