إن المجتهدين من أئمة المسلمين بذلوا أقصى جهودهم العقلية في إستمداد الأحكام الشرعية من مصادرها، واستخرجوا من النصوص الشرعية وروحها ومعقولها كنوزاً تشريعية ثمينة، كفلت مصالح المسلمين على إختلاف أجناسهم وأقطارهم ونظمهم ومعاملاتهم، ولم تضق بحاجة من حاجاتهم، بل كان فيها تشريع لأقضية لم تحدث، ووقائع فرضية، وهذه موسوعات الفقه آيات تنطق بما بذلوه من جهد وما كان حليفهم من توفيق.
ولم يكتفوا بما استمدوه من أحكام، وما سنوه من قوانين، بل عنوا بوضع قواعد للإستمداد، وقوانين للإستنباط، وكوَّنوا من مجموعة هذه القواعد علم أصول الفقه، وكأنهم رحمهم الله بصنيعهم هذا أشاروا إلى خلفهم إلى أن لا يركنوا إلى إجتهادهم، وأن يجتهدوا كما اجتهدوا، وبينوا كما بنوا، فإن الأقضية تحدث والمصالح تتغير، ومصادر الشريعة معين لا ينضب، ومنهل عذب لكل وارد، وفضل الله يؤتيه من يشاء.
ومن مجموعة الأحكام الشرعية المتعلقة بما يصدر عن الإنسان من أقوال وأفعال، المستفادة من النصوص فيما وردت فيه نصوص، والمستنبطة من الدلائل الشرعية الأخرى فيما لم ترد فيه نصوص تكوّن الفقه.
جمع المؤلف في هذا الكتاب بعض متون أصولية متداولة بين الطلاب، وعلق تعليقات مفيدة معينة، وضع العناوين بين قوسين؛ أسماء المتون كما يلي: مختصر المنار، المنار لعبد الله بن أحمد النسفي الشهير بــ"أبي البركات"، مختصر تنقيح الفصول في الأصول، الورقات في أصول الفقه، منهاج الوصول إلى علم الأصول، قواعد الأصول ومعاقد الفصول، مجامع الحقائق، لبّ الأصول، مِرْقَاةُ الْوُصُولِ إلَى عِلْمِ الأُصُولِ، جمع الجوامع.
