الشاعر الروسي العظيم الكسندر سيرغييفيتش بوشكين (1799- 1837) هو مفخرة الأدب العربي لا الأدب الروسي وحده.
وبوشكين شاعر قبل كل شيء، إلا أنه أبدع نثراً لا مثيل له في كماله، وكان ليف تولستوي يقدر أعمال بوشكين النثرية عظيم التقدير إذ قال: "هل قرأت نثر بوشكين منذ زمان؟ أعمل معروفاً وأقرأ كل "قصص بيلكين" من جديد.
يجب على كل كاتب أن يدرسها ويدرسها، لقد فعلت ذلك قبل أيام، ولا أستطيع أن أنقل لك التأثير الخيّر الذي تركته هذه القراءة في نفسي.
يضم هذا المجلد سلسلة "قصص بيلكين" (1830) والرواية القصيرة "دوبرفسكي" (1833)، والرواية التاريخية "ابنة الآمر" (1836) عن حرب الفلاحين في روسيا في القرن الثامن عشر بزعامة القائد الشعبي الأسطوري يميليان بوغاتشيف.
