امتعض هاني من زوجته رشا التي تزوجها حديثاً، لأنها ترتب المنزل بطريقة لا تعجبه، وقال في نفسه: إن هذا نقص فيها؛ فهي لا تفعل ما تفعله والدتي. وفي يوم من الأيام دخل هاني فرأى زوجته تقرأ كتاباً في فن التجميل، فقال لها: لماذا لا تثقفين نفسك بالأمور المفيدة؟ قالت: ولكن هذا أمر مفيد أيضاً، فلم يعجبه ردها، وسكت على مضض. وعندما سمعها تقول للخادمة: اذهبي وخذي ساعة من الراحة بعد الغداء ثم عودي للعمل، استنكر ذلك، وقال في نفسه: ولكن أمي ترى أن ذلك الأمر يفسد الخدم. وحين جلس الى المائدة، وجدها قد جلست قبله وغرفت لنفسها ولم تنتظر قدومه، فقال في نفسه: إن أمي تنتظر أبي ليجلس الى المائدة، ثم تجلس هي. وحين فتحت رشا التلفاز قال هاني في نفسه: لماذا ترفع الصوت هكذا؟ إننا لم نعتد ذلك في بيتنا.
قد لا ينتبه الإنسان للحديث الذي يدور في نفسه، ولا يدري بأنه يسيّر دفة حياته في كل وقت، إن الافكار التي تدور في عقل الإنسان تجعله يطلق أحكامه على غيره، وهي غالباً ما تكون أحكاماً جائرة، وقد يتجاوز الزوج أو الزوجة حدود الاحترام بأفكارهما، فينعكس ذلك على شعورهما تجاه بعضهما ومن ثم على تصرفاتهما مع بعضهما.
فالأفكار الداخلية قد تكون محركاً ودافعاً نحو مشاعر جياشة وحياة تفيض بالأمل والإنتاج والعمل الدؤوب، وقد تكون قاتلاً صامتاً ومعولاً هداماً يقضي على الحياة الزوجية بشكل خاص، وعلى العلاقات بين بني البشر بشكل عام.
