بهذه العبارات يبدأ المؤلف كتابه عن "النبوغ اللبناني... الأسطورة والواقع" في محاولة للتأكيد على هذه المقولة، وهو يفعل ذلك من خلال الحديث عن شخصيات بارزة في المجتمع اللبناني وعلى كل المستويات الإقتصادية والسياسية والإجتماعية والإعلامية، من داخل لبنان وخارجه، حيث اختار عينة ممن يسمونهم أصحاب القرار في كل قطاع وأجريت مقابلات معهم ضمها الكتاب بعد أن "أقنع هذه الشخصيات بعد جهد بأن تتحدث عن نفسها نشأتها وطريقة تفكيرها والإستراتيجية التي اتبعتها ونظرتها المستقبلية...".
وبذلك كون المؤلف فكرة عامة ورسم خطوطاً عريضة لما يسميه "النبوغ اللبناني" ووجد أنه واقع لا ينكر له مميزات خاصة ومراكز قوة ومراكز ضعف؛ كما أنه جمع في كتابه إختبارات إقتصادية تدل على نجاح الإنسان اللبناني مهما اشتدت الصعاب في وجهه؛ وفي الحياة العامة أكثر من مثال.
