موقفان يتجاذبان المثقف العربي يمليهما عليه وعيه وواقعه؛ فالوعي، المستمد من تراث، للإنسان والحب فيه المنزلة الأولى بين الكائنات والعواطف، يفرض تسامياً في الروح يباعد بين الإنسان ومشاعر البغض والعداء، اما الواقع، فإنه يغطي بسواده المدى، ولا يترك في الأفق مجالاً إلا للثأر والدم، ذلك أن الفكر المثالي ومناقبي في تطلعاته ومتطلباته، في حين أن الواقع صعب في قسوته ومرارته.
لا توجد مشكلة بالنسبة للفرد العادي: فهو أما مؤيد للعنف أو من أنصار السكينة والإستسلام، ولا توجد مشكلة بالنسبة لرجل المقاومة، لأنه ملتزم بقضية يفترض معها أن يكون منسجماً مع نفسه إلى درجة لا تسمح بإزدواجية بين الفكر والعمل، ولا توجد مشكلة بالنسبة للمثالي لأنه بالحب يحل مشكلات الأرض جميعاً.
إلا أن فئة من المثقفين تعاني، وتعيش إزدواجية غريبة بين عاطفتها وعقلها، فإلتزامها العقائدي لا يمنعها من الشعور بأن الحقد لا يجعل من الدنيا مكاناً أكثر بهجة وسعادة، وإيمانها بالحب لا ينفي إقتناعها بأنه وحده لا يخفف التعاسة والبؤس، وبأنه ليس السلاح الأفضل لمحاربة عدو يعيش على العنف وحب السيطرة.
في هذه الدراسة محاولة للخلاص من التناقض الفكري عن طريق المنطق، فإستناداً إلى التاريخ والتاريخ القانوني، فبين المؤلف طبيعة الدولة العدو وأهدافها، ووضع الفرد العربي تجاهها وتجاه المجتمع الدولي المعادي له، والأسباب الموجبة لحمل السلاح في سبيل تغيير هذه الظروف الواقعية؛ وبالإعتماد على مبادئ القانون الدولي أوضحَ حقوق رجل المقاومة مع التشديد على وجباته نحو أبناء وطنه وتجاه أعدائه.
يأتي الحل الأمثل لمشكلة المثقف العربي عن طريق تعميق المضمون العقائدي والإنساني للعمل المسلح، ويكتمل نضح العمل المسلح حين يقيد نفسه بإلتزامات قانونية وخلقية؛ عندئذٍ تتكرس سيادة الإنسان على الواقع، وسيادة الوعي العقلي على سائر القوى الإنسانية.
