تزكية النفس أو تطهير الروح فضيلة شريفة ولبنة أساسية في الإيمان وتكامل الإنسان. وهي مما أكَد عليه الإسلام في تعاليمه الشريفة، حيث دعا اتباعه إلى الصلاح والإخلاص والعبادة والعمل، وهذه هي أسس الإسلام وغاياته والركيزة عليها يعوَل.
وقد حثَ الباري تعالى عباده في آيات كثيرة إلى تنقية نفوسهم وتطهير باطنهم. سيراً على طريق النضوج والتكامل الذي ينتهي إلى إعداد الإنسان الإلهي الصالح الذي يعمَر الأرض وينال عن جدارة منصب الخلافة فيها.
والشهيد المطهري واحد من أبرع من ألَفوا في شتى ميادين المعارف الإسلامية وترجمت كتبه إلى اللغة العربية ولقيت رواجاً واسعاً وإقبالاً شديداً لما تتَصف به من العمق والسلاسة وتركت في النفوس تأثيراً عميقاً. هذه الميزة التي تتصف به كتبه دعت البعض إلى إستخلاص أبواب منفصلة منها وإستلال مواضيع معيَنة من بين طياَتها وإعادة ترتيبها ترتيباً موضوعيَاً.
