يحتوي هذا الكتاب على رسالة دونها عالم من علماء القرن الثامن الهجري وهو الإمام "عبد الوهاب بن عبد الرحمن الاخميني" المعروف "بالمصري" رد فيها على الشيخ ابن تيمية فما زل به من القول "بحوادث لا أول لها"، وهو قول خطير، مفض إلى اعتقادات خطيرة: "كالقدم النوعي، وكون الله موجباً بالذات لا فاعلاً بالاختيار، مما يلزم عنه كون الله مجبوراُ على خلق الحوادث".
ورغم أن الإمام الإخميمي قد سلك في رده هذا الأسلوب العلمي المؤدب إلا أنه لقي عنتاً شديداً وتعصباً من بعض أتباع ابن تيمية بسبب رده عليه في هذه المسألة ضمن كتابه "المنقذ من الزلل" والذي احتوى على هذه الرسالة التي بين أيدينا. وكمن أهمية هذه الرسالة-فضلاً عن إيضاحها لجوانب من عقائد ابن تيمية في أنها صورة حية لما كان يحدث إذ ذاك من نزاعات بسبب آرائه.
وبالنظر لما تقدمه هذه الرسالة من آراء وردود على ابن تيمية فقد اعتنى "سعيد عبد اللطيف فودة" بالتعليق عليها بتعليقات تمهد لفهمها. وتبين مذاهب الناس ومنازعهم في المسألة فحل البحث، كما واعتنى بالتقديم للرسالة بترجمة وافية للمؤلف ولرسالته.
