إنه أوّل بحث علمي في لبنان والعالم العربي يعالج موضوع معرفة التلامذة والأساتذة والأهل بحقوق الطفل ومواقفهم منها. وتكم أهميّته في أنّه أوجد أدوات قياس علمي لوعي المهنيين التربويين وسائر قئات الجمهور العام.
اعتمدت الدراسة مقاربة متعددة الجوانب، وحرصت على تقييم أهليّة الجهات المعنيّة ووفرت قاعدة معلومات ضروريّة يمكن استثمارها في اقتراح تدابير تساعد في وضع سياسات تربويّة.
الدكتور إيلي مخايل، الأمين العام للمجلس الأعلى للطفولة لأكثر من عشر سنوات، طرح الأسئلة المناسبة على الأطراف المعنيّة بشؤون التربية واستخلص النتائج، واقترح توجيهات عمليّة لتدعيم ثقافة حقوق الطفل وتعزيز دور المدرسة كبيئة حاضنة وممارسة لهذه الحقوق.
